Cultural route in Córdoba: in search of cave paintings

Paintings

Numerous aboriginal communities inhabited the province of Cordova and his steps were recorded in the paintings that were found in the area, in ancient caves and on the rocks. The drawings are the best testimony of life at that time as the Indians of the area used to portray their daily lives.

The paintings were studied by experts and today there are different tourist routes in Córdoba that follow in the footsteps of the aborigines. One of them invites you to know the Cerro Colorado Archaeological and Natural Park, located to the north of the province and the place that was the ceremonial center of the comechingones and sanavirones indians. Its cultural wealth is of great value and that is why tours are carried out with an included guide that will take you through different trails located next to slopes and in the framework of a captivating landscape.

In the middle of the vegetation, the cave paintings painted by the original inhabitants of those lands appear. The cultural value of them is invaluable because they are very well preserved and that is why they are considered the most complete on the continent, but there are other routes in the province that focus on the findings found because the aborigines who inhabited the current Cordovan lands also left traces in the Intihuasi hill of the South Sierras, 25 km from Achiras, and in the Casa de Piedra archaeological site, located in the northwest of the province, in the vicinity of San Marcos Sierras.

In Cerro Colorado there is also the museum dedicated to the renowned poet Atahualpa Yupanqui, whose remains rest next to his house, the house that was transformed into a museum to pay tribute to him.
