Haunted places in Buenos Aires

tourism Buenos Aires

For the celebrations of Halloween On October 31, Buenos Aires shows the visitor the hidden side with its haunted places and legends of ghosts and spirits. Precisely, there are two places to go to immerse yourself in a spooky tour.

Santa Felicitas Church

This is the story of love beyond death. And it is that the Santa Felicitas Church was built by the Guerrero de Alzaga family in 1876 in honor of their daughter Felicitas, who had been widowed by a vengeful lover, six years earlier.

The chapel is dedicated to Santa Felicitas, in the Barracas neighborhood, in honor of the Catholic martyr who was sacrificed along with her seven children and also the namesake of the young heiress who was murdered in 1872

The ornamental decorations and angels that appear on the upper floor reveal the rumors of the large number of suitors that the young woman had and of the tense environment that she lived.

A collection of sculptures made by famous artists and wealthy donors from across Europe mark the delicately landscaped garden, a testament to the power of love.

Many claim that his spirit wanders through the city until dawn with his bloody torso, the only evidence of the life within. Today, women hang pink ribbons on the church door as they attempt to mend broken hearts and find new love.

La Recoleta Cemetery

It is said to be the red carpet of lost souls. It is here that the rich and famous of Argentina rest. But this is also where ghosts roam the cemetery when the lights go out.

Unlike La Chacarita, the dead here have not been forgotten. Fresh flowers adorn gravesites and lovingly inscribed headstones provide a tender sheet of family history.

And one of those tragic stories is that of Rufina Cambaceres who in 1902 is wrongly declared dead being buried ... alive! Later, he woke up in his own coffin struggling to free himself, but eventually passed away from suffocation.

After burying what happened, his heartbroken father built a beautiful hermitage dedicated to his daughter. The truth is that many assure that their soul wanders through the cemetery at night, unearthing corpses to ensure that they have not suffered the same fate.
Address: Plaza Francia, Calle Junín 1790, 08 am-6pm every day
