Qipao: the Shanghai dress style

El Cheongsam (cheongsam) is a women's dress with Chinese characteristics and is enjoying increasing popularity in the international world of high fashion.

And it is that the Qipao was the basic garment for the Manchu in northeast China. It was modified in the 20th century and is more convenient and comfortable, although it retains the traditional craftsmanship.

As a traditional Chinese costume, the Qipao is like a wonderful flower in China's brightly colored fashion scene. Due to its unique charm, many women wear it to show their special grace.

So, the Shanghai style qipao was formed in the 1930s, when people began to wear a western jacket, coat, or a long sweater than a qipao. At that time, Western designs, such as the dress-making collar, V-neck, ruffle neck, ruffle sleeves, and slit sleeves were introduced for qipao making.

Later, it appeared and revolutionized with its sleeves and shoulder slits, with some shoulder pads having to resort to figure-pleasing. Thanks to the large number of textile products imported from abroad, there is a lot to choose from for making qipao, such as all kinds of satin, silk, cotton, woolen cloth and chiffon.
