In Colombia it is very common to assign to cities or different towns nicknames or qualifications that in a certain way describe many of the qualities it possesses and that distinguishes them from the others. For example:
- Bucaramanga: The City of Parks
- buga: The Lady City (relating it to the Basilica of the Lord of Miracles)
- Cúcuta: The forest city of Colombia
- Ibague: The Musical City of Colombia (for its Music Festival)
- Manizales: City of Open Doors (due to the hospitality with which it receives its visitors)
- Manizales: The city of fairs in America (thanks to its annual fair of Spanish tradition)
- Medellin: The City of Eternal Spring (for its pleasant climate throughout the year)
- Popayán: White City
- Restrepo: The salt capital of Colombia
- Villette: The Panelera City of Colombia, The Sweet City of Colombia.
But the one that has the most names is the city of Cali:
The Branch of Heaven; The Capital of Salsa; The Sports Capital of America; The Sultana of the Valley; Cali, a dream crossed by a river; or even entire sentences: Cali was born from the smile of God on earth and Cali is Cali, the rest is hill.
It would be interesting if they sent me the nicknames of all Colombian cities, I am doing a work on folklore and it would be interesting to include it in my work.
