Puerto Bolivar in La Guajira, departure point for coal from Cerrejón

port-bolivar

One of the main ports in the Colombian Caribbean is located in the department of La Guajira. Puerto Bolivar, 166 kilometers from the city of Riohacha, is the most important exit point for coal from the Cerrejón mines.

The current annual average loading rate is 5.900 tons per hour with peaks up to 9.000 tons per hour. The port also has a supply dock to receive ships of up to 30.000 tons, with machinery, spare parts, fuels and other materials for the mining operation.

It is located at the southern tip of the Bahía Portete mouth, 150 km north of the El Cerrejón mine, north, 75 km north of Uribia, 166 km from Riohacha and 450 km from Barranquilla. It is located in an area with low rainfall (200-300 mm per year) and the winds in the area during the afternoon hours can be 30 knots.

Puerto Bolívar is one of the Terminals in the country with the largest port infrastructure. In 1996 it exported 15.8 million tons of coal, being the largest coal exporter in the country. It also imported 125 thousand tons to supply the El Cerrejón complex.

Gentlemen, excuse so much inconvenience, but I urgently need to know if students have to pay to enter the mine and the port, and if so, know how much the entrance fee per student is worth. Also, I would like to know with whom you can contact for these activities without further ado alvaro martinez urueña
