August 7 is one of the most significant dates in Colombia, since the famous "Battle of Boyacá" is commemorated.

On August 7, 1819, a military confrontation between the Independence Patriots and the Royalists took place in the Campo de Boyacá, with great political repercussions for the definition of independence for the Spanish-American colonial world in relation to the Spanish metropolis.

As for the monument that exists there, El Puente de Boyacá is located on the right side of the highway 110 kilometers from Bogotá and 14 kilometers from Tunja. It is surrounded by mountains and historical monuments, each one is scattered around the area, the Bridge being in the lowest part of the field.

The Boyacá Bridge is not just a small architectural structure that crosses a stream, it is a piece of an immense field made up of monuments, hills and above all historical events that concluded with the patriot victory.
