The jungle wealth of Colombia

Paradisiac coastal areas, imposing mountain landscapes, and extensive plains, are part of the rich Colombian geography; But it is the great virgin forests that dominate most of its territory, in fact, 50% of the national territory is covered with its immense natural wealth.

This privilege leads Colombia to be considered among the 15 countries with the greatest biodiversity on the planet, and number one worldwide in species of fauna and flora per square kilometer.

The best known is undoubtedly the Amazonas Jungle, which is also part of Brazil, Peru, Ecuador, Guyana, Venezuela, Suriname and French Guiana, making up the largest tropical forest in the world with an area of 6 million square kilometers.

Other jungle territories not as extensive as the Amazon, but no less important, are located in the Colombian Pacific, such as the inhospitable Selva del Darien, one of the most dense jungle corners in the world, and which has historically served as a natural border between Colombia ( Chocó department) and Panama. The Chocoan jungle is probably the rainiest on the planet.
