The magic of ash mouths

It is very pleasant to know where the longest river in Colombia ends and at the same time more important for being a fundamental piece in the founding process of the first Colombian towns.

Bocas de Ceniza is this majestic point at the mouth of the Magdalena River in the Caribbean Sea, and it owes its name because the brown waters of the river flow into the open and majestic ocean, which welcomes it warm and generous. Today, the river flows into the sea through an artificial canal built in the 30s.

Those who are interested in getting to know it and experience it, can go in Barranquilla to the area called Vía 40, in an area known as Las Flores, where on board the “Train” they will be able to travel the Bocas de Ceniza cutwater which is approximately 12 kilometers long. There the train stops and you can continue the adventure on foot for a few more kilometers until you reach the point where you can see the mouth of the Magdalena River.

This tour is magical, in this transport for fifteen people, taking the Magdalena River to the right, further ahead the waters of the sea appear on the left, accompanying us until they are in a perennial way originating this majestic spectacle.
