English desserts: Pudding

Un pudding is the dessert of a meal ('pud' is used informally) that in Britain there are hundreds of variations of pudding but each with milk starts with the same basic ingredients of milk, sugar, eggs, flour and butter, and many include fruits such as raspberries or strawberries, cream, cream, and cakes.

The most traditional pudding can be accompanied with bread and butter with milk, with the traditional flan, known as English cream, whose recipes are passed down from generation to generation.

One of the traditional ones is the so-called Spotted Dick, which is a steam tallow pudding containing dried fruit (usually currants), commonly served with cream or butter and brown sugar.

Another is known as Custard (custard) which is thick, sweet made with egg yolks, sugar, milk or cream, and sometimes other flavorings. Most people today use a yellow powder mixed with milk, water, and sugar.

These custards can be served as a hot sauce, or as a cold topping, for example a trifle. When it's cold, it becomes one of the most requested.
