Traditional dances in England

Among the folk dances with medieval roots is the clog dancing, which is a dance where footwear is used musically by striking the heel, toe, or both in unison against the ground or each other to create acoustic percussion rhythms.

The dance has been merged with similar dances, such as the Peruvian dance «zapateo» (which may itself be a derivative of African dances), the result was the birth of new dances in the street, such as touch of blocking, jumping, trampling and the Nordic dance floor.

This is a traditional dance in Wales and is a regular feature at local and national festivals. The competition can be spirited with dancers from all regions.

In this sense, some festivals in the County of Northumberland stand out, and they are danced in some parts of Lancashire, Cheshire, Yorkshire, Cumbria and Derbyshire.
