The eagle in German history

Many of us would have contemplated in almost detail the different elements that make up the coat of arms of Germany, this without knowing in depth what is the historical significance that has led to the use of an eagle in the main form in its style and design.

Like any national symbol in any part of the world, in different countries the flag and shield are always adopted, which is not an exception in Germany since the official version of the shield was recently implemented in 1950.

If we analyze the German coat of arms well, we will notice that it is made up of a large yellow area, on which a black eagle is elegantly depicted, with an open beak and outstretched wings, which was originally declared with the name from "Weimar eagle", but after the establishment of the German Federal Republic, it was known as the Federal eagle.

And it is that the eagle has been an element of historical significance in Germany, which in reality has participated in different elements with certain variations throughout history; for example, in the different shields of the Holy Roman Empire the "double-headed eagle" was present, and later in the Weimar Republic the eagle was also used in its shield, which rather served as a reference for the current model.
