March 25 Greek Independence Day

On March 25 of each year the Greeks celebrate the national holiday of Greek IndependenceActually, it is when the fight for Independence begins, it is a secular party.
In the year 1453, it was when the last Greek place fell into the hands of the Turks, and until 1821 the Greeks did not regain their independent status.
March 25, 1821 is when the long process for the struggle for Independence begins, and after achieving it, the new and modern Greek State arises.
On that day a group of people with the army and the Archbishop of Patra, Germanós III, met in Santa Laura, who blessed the revolution and said that from that moment the war for Greek Independence, the flag was raised and the oath of "Freedom or Death" was taken, and the revolutionaries raised their naked sword to the sky and waved their muskets.
The first fighting began in the Peloponnese, in April the revolution was already widespread in the surroundings and in a few months it had spread to all of Greece.
To celebrate this glorious date, parades, concerts, exhibitions are organized, and fireworks cannot be missed.
It is customary for all Greek provinces to present their forces, their youth, and their army in the parade in honor of those Greeks who dared to start the war against the Ottoman Turks, to conquer Greek Independence.
In addition to all these celebrations like all good Greek, a party that cannot be missed is to gather around a table to taste a good and succulent meal.
On that date it is traditional to eat cod and garlic cream.
