Although it is not a really spectacular island like other islands the Peloponnese or more, of the Cyclades group, Elafonissos is surrounded by a wonderful turquoise sea and has some of the most beautiful beaches of fine sands. Its port is also very picturesque, with a row of colorful taverns and some summer houses that host guests. Many Athenians come here on their yachts or cruises for a weekend so well, although small and nothing spectacular, it does not have very cheap prices as in other islands of the Peloponnese.
But it's worth it, of course. One can simply arrive and spend the day. Its beaches seem tropical beaches with white sands and they are full of canteens where Greek and Latin music is heard. It is an island that attracts mainly for its beaches because otherwise it does not have much else to offer, except rest, sea, sun and good food. As I said, ideal to spend the day and get to know it by making a base in nearby Gythion or Monemvasia.
