Here they appear growing on the island of Scheria, in the royal gardens, but Hippocrates also refers to the pomegranate as one of the fruits with the greatest amount of beneficial properties for humans. There is even a myth associated with the grenades: that of the abduction of Persephone by Hades. Hades offers this fruit to Persephone to seal their eternal bond.

The truth is that here in Greece the pomegranate has been a symbol of good luck, fertility and abundance since ancient times. Now when the end of year partys the pomegranate will appear on the menu as one of the greek traditions marks that a grenade should be smashed on the door of the house as a symbol and wish of good luck in the new year.
