Helios, the sun god

helios

El Salt it has always been deified by the great cultures. As provider and maker of life, it is also present in Greek mythology under the name of Helios. According to these myths he was the son of Hyperion and Tea and brothers of the goddesses Selene and Eos (the moon and the dawn, respectively).

Like almost all the gods, Helios was imagined by the Greeks as a beautiful man who wore a halo of the sun and who drove a chariot that flew through the sky every day. The Romans called him Sol and the most popular story around him actually has as its protagonist his son, Phaeton, who took his father's car without permission with such bad luck and mastery that he ended up burning the earth.

Helios is sometimes identified with Apollo and this relationship became more constant over time, although in specific myths both gods are separate entities with few characteristics in common.

    Helios, the sun god.
As everyone knows, Helios is the son of Hiperòn and Tea who protected the sight and endowed gold, silver and gems with their characteristic brilliance. Her sisters were Selene, the goddess of the moon, and Eos, the Dawn.
Helios was a young man of great beauty, crowned with the brilliant halo of the sun
