Zakynthos, also called Zacinto, is one of the largest Greek islands in the Ionian group of islands. It has an area of 405 km2 and is inhabited by about 35 thousand people. The beautiful island is about 300 kilometers west of Athens and almost 10 nautical miles from the Peloponnese.

That is why one of the ways to get to Zakynthos is by ferry. But there are other ways, other means of transport, so here I leave you more information about how to get to Zakynthos:

  • By plane: it is easily reached from Athens with daily flights of just 45 minutes. In summer you can also arrive by plane from other cities in Europe that make more direct charter flights. On the other hand there are also air connections with Corfu, Kefalonia, Lefkada and Kitira.
  • From Italy you can get there by boats that depart from the ports of Venice Trieste, Ancona, Brindisi and Bari. All these boats arrive in Patras and from here you can go by road, 60 km, to the coast of the village of Killini. From Killini there are many ferries going to Zakynthos and the journey takes an hour and a half.
