In the small, picturesque and beautiful village of Ano mera, on the island of Mykonos, you will have the possibility to visit an ancient monastery: the Monastery of Panagia de Tourlianis. This site was founded by two monks in 1542 and it is a typical building from the Greek islands, whitewashed and hidden in the narrow streets of the town.

Ano Mera is located about 7 kilometers east of the city of Hora and is in fact the only inland town on the entire island. It is the right contrast with the coastal towns and their houses are distributed around a square-shaped square lined with trees with the typical Greek taverns where you can sit down to eat the specialties of the local gastronomy.

Afterwards, remember the old church and walk your steps there. The monastery was built in the XNUMXth century and has a very beautiful marble tower. Inside it is fully decorated with paintings and in the presbytery you will see an impressive screen that has been made in the city of Florence in the last half of the XNUMXth century, and in the grounds of the small church there is a museum exhibiting a group of ecclesiastical relics. This site is open every day from 9am to 1pm and from 2pm to 7:30 pm. Entrance is free.
