At Trinity College there is an ancient book called the Durrow's Book. It is a beautiful illuminated manuscript with gospels written on it dating from the 650th century. It is believed to have been written between 700 and XNUMX, perhaps in Durrow, in the abbey, or in Derry, in the north of England. The subject is still being discussed and no conclusion has been reached, but this manuscript is the oldest and most complete example of a gospel book written in the islands. It predates the famous Book of Kells by more than a century and is therefore very valuable.
The gospels it contains are those of Matthew, Luke, Mark and John plus some pieces of reflection and canons. Its pages measure 145 by 145 mm and have a total of 248 folios. There are also miniatures of four evangelical symbols, four full pages of miniatures, and six pages with decorated initial letters. The Book of Durrow is capitalized and has some gaps with missing words. Even the size of the pages seems to have been reduced after constant reading and although most of the pages seem loose today it is believed that they were originally two pages or were grouped in pairs.
Like I said, you find it in the famous Trinity College library.
