As we had mentioned in a previous article, the Great Westminster Clock is part of the Tower of Westminster and many people mistakenly identify it as Big Ben, but in the same article we had mentioned that this name actually deserves to have it. greater bell that ticks every hour that passes.

Thus, the Great Westminster Clock is made up of different elements, which include the side faces of the clock, the bells, the tower, the hand that marks the hour and others, each and every one of these elements that have a Vistorian Gothic style, which is made up of brick covered with stone, this in a very general way in the description.

Each face of the clock is 55 meters high, this clock being one of the largest in the world at the time it was built. The hand that marks the hour measures 2.7 meters, while the one that indicates the minutes measures 4.3 meters. All these elements were arranged on the great tower, which sits on a base of 15 × 15 meters, with this base having to support a whole weight of 8667 tons.

The irregularity of the terrain caused the tower to be tilted to the northwest side by just 220 millimeters, something that has not really affected the main objective of this great monument. The Great Clock of Westminster began to work on September 7, 1859 to the present day.
