Bookstores in Amsterdam

Amsterdam It has a number of wonderful bookstores, but English books are usually quite expensive. There are three better places you might be looking for the book you need: Het Spui, Leliegracht, and Oude Hoogstraat and Nieuwe.

Het Spui is the small street and square at the back of Kalverstraat, directly on the Begijnhof, lined with bookstores and literary cafes, it is central to Amsterdam's "book-loving scene."

La Librería de América, next to the Spui, is three stories high, with an interesting range and occasional good discounts. The ground floor is filled with a fascinating selection of new publications on art and mass culture, as well as a wide selection of magazines in English.

The nearby Waterstone's chain, at the corner of the Kalverstraat and the Spui, offers an impressive selection of English-language books on four attractive floors. There is a wide range of modern fiction at ground level.

Further down the Kalverstraat, right at the Munt Tower on discounts that came out of the New English Bookstore good deals in a limited range. Their inventory is mostly scraps, but it is possible to find bargain-priced treasures. coffee table books, travel guides, and stationery are the best buy.

And along Kalverstraat in the other direction, you will find De Slegte, who has a wide range of books in English, among the Dutch selection. The first two levels are dedicated to second-hand books and there are numerous quality, fictional titles on the top floor.

You can also find cheap second-hand books in the basement. Selexyz-Scheltema is probably the best of the Dutch bookstores with its enormous variety and appeal was out.

Another place for book lovers in Amsterdam is Leliegracht, a canal street with an internationally renowned architecture bookstore Archtectura and Natura and several other bookstores on the other.
