Norwegian imports and exports

Norway's foreign trade is voluminous, even more so considering, in addition to exports and imports, foreign investments in Norway and Norwegian investments in the rest of the world.

Income from exports of goods and services enables Norway to import the goods it needs and, at the same time, build reserves for the future. However, this was not always like that. For much of the last century, Norwegian imports exceeded exports, with the consequent indebtedness that caused this deficit.

This situation was modified from the moment that Norway began to export oil and gas in large volumes, which has contributed, since 1990, to reverse the balance of the trade balance. After the leadership of the oil sector, the second place in Norwegian exports is held by the metals industry.

It should be noted that the bulk of Norwegian exports are destined for countries of the European Union and the European Economic Area. Great Britain is the one who leads the ranking of the importing countries of Norway, while Sweden is the country from which Norway imports the most goods.
