Bergen Events and Festivities

Bergen

The city of Bergen was named in 2004 as one of the «European secret capitals» by Time magazine thanks to its great activity.

And it is that to visit this beautiful city any time is good, it would be advisable to be in one of its most important parties or events. For example, the Constitution Day (May 17) stands out, this day Norwegians celebrate in style and in which the kings of Norway usually go to Bergen.

There is also the Festival of Lights (November 28), which celebrates the official opening of the Christmas season with fireworks at the Byparken.

Among cultural events, Bergen highlights music in all its styles. Throughout the year you can enjoy excellent concerts at the Grieghallen, a concert hall named after the famous Bergen-born composer and pianist Edvard Grieg.

It is also possible to get closer to other styles during the many music festivals that are held annually in the city. The International Guitar Festival (June), the Lost Weekend or the Hole in the Sky (August) are some examples, although the most prominent is undoubtedly the Bergen International Festival (between May and June).

Let's not forget other events such as the Comics Festival and the Food Festival (September) and the Bergen International Film Festival (October).
