The nature of Norway is the main attraction for visitors, its wide variety of flora and fauna within an imposing environment is a guarantee of a very good trip, and for Norwegians pride.
Forests cover 29% of the area of Norway. Deciduous forests can be found in the southern and southwestern coastal districts; the main species are oak, ash, hazelnut, elm, maple and linden, and birch, yew and holly can be found in the most favorable areas.
Towards the east and north, the number of conifers is increasing; in the coastal regions and in the valleys of the east and center of the country there are dense boreal coniferous forests dominated by scots pine and fir, but also contain birch, alder, aspen and rowan.
In the far north and at higher altitudes there are regions of tundra without trees and with a vegetation consisting mainly of resistant dwarf shrubs and wild flowers.
