August is the favorite month for Swedes to get married. In a country that claims to be alien to religion, there are a surprisingly high number of people who choose to assume the marriage yoke in the temple.
Civil marriage has been a right of the Swedes since 1863, and their country was one of the first to allow the "civil union" of homosexuals, which gives them rights similar to those of a marriage.
There are many couples who dispense with getting married and simply register as "sambo" (cohabiting partner), while others define themselves as "sarbo" (couples linked by intimate ties with separate dwellings).
However, despite having many options and living in a very open society, and in many cases being the vanguard of change, many Swedes still refer to marrying in the traditional way: in church, in a white dress, the bouquet of roses , the wedding cake and the wedding ceremony.
Not everyone takes their wedding vows in church. The increase in migration has brought new customs and other religions. In addition, there are those who simply prefer to keep the church out of their private life.
