It is located in the region of Guiana Shield, in the southwestern sector of the country, near the junction of the border of Venezuela, Colombia and Brazil, in the Río Negro Municipality. It was decreed on December 12, 1978 with 5.100 hectares and is an intrusive igneous rock about 400 meters high with three practically vertical peaks. This monument is considered of utmost importance given its extraordinary geological formation. Its temperature is annually between 24 ° C and 27 ° C.
La Piedra de Cocuy is a beautiful, rare and striking igneous rock formation, which is geologically characterized by being an exfoliation dome, corresponding to the Amazonian granite complex, of Precambrian age, considered an extraordinary geological structure in the world.
