Due to New York's worldwide reputation as a home for all cultures, the visitor will be able to explore art and traditions that would normally be out of reach to outsiders. One of these important museums to visit is the National Museum of the American Indians.

It is part of the Smithsonian Institution where the life and work of the original inhabitants of North America and other pre-European colonial peoples are exposed. The museum has an extensive collection of indigenous artifacts, spanning the western hemisphere from upper South America to the Arctic Circle. Contemporary indigenous art also appears in the museum's showcases.

Exhibitions:

• Circle of dance: native dance is explored in this exhibition. Ten different dances from all over the Americas are examined for movement, costume, and music.

• C.Maxx Stevens: House of Memory: This exhibition is a multimedia show that contains prints, installations and sculptures made from found objects such as wood, paper, and even hair. This exhibition, which explores themes of history and personal memory, will be available for viewing until June 16.

• Infinity of Nations: This is the permanent collection of the museum, which consists of at least 700 works of native art from all over the American continent. The indigenous arts of each region and different culture are celebrated.
