Souvenirs from Egypt

Khan al-Khalili

There are those who say, and with good reason, that to know a place you must get closer to its people. The country of the Pharaohs is no exception. Egyptians are people who, for generations, have dealt with those who visited their country, whether for work or for fun. It is very common for them to meet in bars, and especially in bazaars to socialize with others.

So, to experience Egypt, we recommend that you visit the bazaars. And by the way, buy some egypt souvenirs to keep as a souvenir of your fantastic trip.

What to find in the bazaars

The bazaars are similar to the markets we do around here. You find everything and more. Papyri, key rings, plants, jewelry, miniature pyramids ... The problem is which one to choose, but it really is not something serious, because there are many precious things that we will not want to miss, especially if you go to the Khan el-Khalili bazaar, the most famous in the country.

Budget

Well, let's talk about pricing now. If the budget should be high or low really only you decide. As usual, it is not necessary to take a large sum of money, but it is true that, depending on what you want to buy, you will need more or less money. For example, papyri are sold for around 90 euros a pack of 7 (important: the papyri sold in bazaars are not usually made with the papyrus plant, but with banana. An original papyrus purchased in a papyrus factory of the size Folio A4 can cost from 50 euros onwards), or you can find the magnets at 0 euro cents each.

Papyrus

And by the way, do you know how to buy it in Egypt? Haggling. If you don't, they will take it as disrespectful. So you know, before you go, practice your haggling… But at home, just in case.

Bon voyage!
