How is the weather in Egypt

Egyptian pyramids

Are you planning to travel to the Land of the Pharaohs but don't know what the weather in Egypt? If so, you are in luck, because today I am going to explain in detail the weather conditions of this magnificent, as well as the enigmatic place that we have dreamed of so many times.

So, in order not to get too long, let's get down to business… and get those plane tickets ready.

Egypt is located in the most northeastern part of the great African continent. Like all the countries that are located around the Mediterranean Sea, it has a generally dry climate and above all warm, with temperatures that can reach the 42ºC -in Alexandria, for example- during the summer, and go down to the 7 degrees Celsius -in Cairo- during the colder months. It is very difficult for it to snow, but it may be the case, as happened in December 2013 after 112 years. It was such an unusual event that the news was covered by all the media. So, if you are going to travel in winter, it doesn't hurt to pack a good coat… just in case.

If you don't like the heat, from November to April you can visit the country comfortably. However, you should know that really the only differences between the seasons are the different temperature variations during the day, as well as the change in the direction of the wind.

Cities located further north, such as the magical Alexandria, have a very pleasant climate, with a maximum temperature that rarely exceeds 28ºC. Being so close to the sea, the sea breeze helps keep the mercury in the thermometer at an easily bearable degree, very nice.

To visit Egypt during the summer, which is when there are fewer tourists, you must take some other security measure: visits to the temples will be done only in the early morning or late afternoon, you must always carry water in the backpack, and do not forget protect yourself from the sun by putting on sunscreen.
