Most important temples of Egypt

Columnar temple

In Egypt you can enjoy the beauty of countless historical places. Places in which the life of the ancient Egyptians passed in the light of the sun, or as they called it: God Ra (or Aten, as Pharaoh Akhenaten wanted it to be called).

I'm going to show you what they are the most important temples in Egypt; those that you will not be able to stop visiting again and again, since they are the most imposing and impressive. And as if that were not enough, the passage of time has not damaged them too much, since in many of them the representations of the pharaohs can still be distinguished, after 3 years.

Abu Simbel Temple

Abu Simbel

El Abu Simbel Temple It is located in Nubia, in southern Egypt, on the west bank of the Nile River. Since 1979 it has been declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco. There are many tourists -and residents- who visit this place to marvel at one of the architectural works that Pharaoh Ramses II left us.

This historical wonder was about to go into oblivion, since, after the end of the ancient Egyptian civilization, it was abandoned. As time passed, the desert sands were covering it up to the knees ... until in 1813 it was rediscovered by Johann Ludwig Burckhardt. To this day, it is not the temple it used to be, but its statues still have that beauty that we like so much.

Hatshepsut Temple

Hatshepsut Temple

El Hatshepsut Temple, located in the complex of funerary monuments of Deir el-Bahari, is located very close to the city of Luxor, on the west bank of the River Nile. It is a unique temple, unique in the whole country.

The story goes that her royal architect, named Senemut, wanted to help her have one of the most beautiful tombs. Some even say that they had an affair. We do not know if it is true or not, but the reality is that the architectural design is exquisite.

Karnak Temple

Karnak

El Karnak Temple It is situated on the eastern bank of the River Nile, very close to Luxor. Formerly it was the most important religious complex in the entire country, to which everyone who could afford it went. The pharaohs knew it; in fact, each one wanted to leave their mark. For example, we can find obelisks of the pharaoh Hatshepsut and a temple of Ramses III.

In this wonderful temple, above all the god Amun-Ra was worshiped, but also the gods Ptah, Opet or Montu, among others.
