The deserts of Egypt

Sahara desert

Egypt is a country surrounded by deserts. These territories correspond to one of the driest places on Earth, but also some of the most beautiful. They are capable of testing the resistance and adaptability of the human being, so they should never be traveled without a good guide… And not even without a backpack full of bottles of water and food, as well as a coat, since at night the temperature can drop below 0 degrees.

Do you want to know what are the deserts of Egypt?

Arabian desert

Also called the longitudinal strip of the Sahara, it is situated between the Nile and the Red Sea in the Land of the Pharaohs, and between the river's delta and its first waterfall in the south. The environmental humidity is very low, only 15%, and maximum temperatures of 54ºC are recorded during the day, and up to -12ºC at night.

Farafra desert

Surely its other name will sound more familiar to you: white desert. It is situated in western Egypt, halfway between the Dakhla oasis and Bahariya. There you can also enjoy their hot springs.

Libyan Desert

It is located northeast of the Sahara Desert, occupying the western part of the Nile, eastern Libya and northwestern Sudan. Highly recommended is the visit to the oasis of Siwa, which is very close to the Libyan border.

Sinai peninsula

This inverted triangle shaped peninsula is located in the Asian region of the Middle East. Two very different parts are distinguished: the desert in the north, and the rugged mountains in the south. In this place, if you like mountain sports you will surely enjoy it, since for example Mount Catalina, the highest in the place, has an altitude of 2642m.
