We like natural spaces, all those that always hide many secrets behind them. Therefore, today we are left with the Bear path. a unique place, made up of several sections that takes us into the beauty of Asturias. If you want a little peace, to discover nature and to disconnect, this is your place.
It will become one of the favorites when you get to know it a little more. Because it carries its part of history and that as we say, it always has something to show us that will make us want more. Do not miss this pedestrian-type path, with a fairly simple route and with rest areas surrounded by nature.
How to get to Senda del Oso
As we already know, this place is located in Asturias, but starting from this, we are going to know a little more where it is located and how we can get there if we start from the most common cities.
From Oviedo
If your departure is from Oviedo, then you must take the A-63 towards Grado. Then, exit 9 towards N-634 Trubia. Now we have to take a new exit towards Santo Adriano - Proaza. When we get to Caranga debajo, we turn off towards San Martín de Teverga. When we see the town Entrago we will go to the right until we see the parking lot that is the one that dictates the beginning of the Path.
From Gijón
It may be that your starting point is Gijón, then you will take the A-66 towards Oviedo. Then the A-63 towards Grado. Exit number 9 takes you to the N-634 Trubia. Once here, again than the previous thing we mentioned, that is, towards Santo Adriano - Proaza.
From Santander
First you will have to take the highway towards Oviedo A8. instead take the A-63 towards Bachelor's Degree, as we have commented in the previous sections.
What is the Bear Path in Asturias
It is a path or pedestrian path. In this case, it has paved sections that cross both the forests and the mountains. It is made on an old railway line where many years ago, the mining train passed that made a tour of the Trubia river valley. This is what we will do, but without the train. Since this was used until the mid-60s and was in charge of transporting both iron and coal. But the mines were exhausted and being unprofitable they had to close. So after that, they decided to maintain the beauty of the valley by doing this route. In addition, it has tunnels, reservoirs and even the House of the Bear or the Ethnographic Museum of Quirós.
The sections of the Path
It is true that there is no rush to visit this place, so it is usual to divide it into two or three sections. If the latter is your choice, you can do the first section which would be about 6 kilometers, the second of them, 18,5 and the third and last one four and a half kilometers. This last part that would encompass the area between Caranga and Valdemurio was the last to be inaugurated.
First stretch
As we say, you can make or divide them in various ways. But you have to leave from the Tuñón recreational area. This first section was the first to be inaugurated. After this exit, we go through the La Esgarrada bridge and then another bridge that of El santo that takes us to Villanueva. There we can see the Desfiladero de las Xanas. You will enjoy a Roman bridge and you will see a recreational area. Without missing the Monte del Oso, so called because there are several species of bears and bears.
Second section
As we have already reached Proaza, we start from here and go through the area of the mountains. From Caranga to the Peñas Juntas gorge, passing through the Sillón del Rey and Peña Armada.
Third section
Much shorter than the previous one and it also starts from caranga in Proaza towards the Valdemurio reservoir. After passing Peñas Juntas, we take the left side and after Caranga debajo, you will continue your path parallel to the road. Another area where the beauty of the place is not far behind.
The path of the bear, how many kilometers is it?
It can be said that doing the most basic or common route, we would be talking about that the path of the bear is about 18 kilometers. But as we mentioned almost at the beginning, it is true that you can always adapt it to your needs. That is why you can always add more sections and reach the Villamurio reservoir or towards Quirós and then also, Buyera. There you will find all the areas well explained, so that you do not have any kind of problem and you can make your choice.
Bear path by bike
You can make it much more enjoyable and rent a bicycle. They also have this service, so they also have special baskets for the little ones in the house or tandem. The rental of the same, also includes the one that they can assist you if you need it or pick it up at any of the points. For what comfort means that many families choose to travel the path by bicycle and stop every so often to rest in the recreational areas designed for it.
Recommendations to keep in mind
