If you want to see a unique building complex, you can stop by Gallaratese, where you will find one of the largest housing complexes in Italy, and that you may have never seen.
Gallaratese is one of the largest residential complexes in all of Italy. It is located in zone 8 of Milan, specifically the administrative area that corresponds to Porta Volta, Fiera, Gallaratese and Quarto Oggiaro. Specifically, its location is more than 7 km northwest of the Milan Cathedral. This neighborhood is known internationally for the Monte Amiata housing complex, and was designed by the urban planner Carlo Aymonino. It was built on top of an agricultural area crossed by the Olona River between 1960 and 1980.
It includes the entire area that lies between the municipality of Pero to the north, the Via Gallarate to the east, Trenno to the west and Lampugnano to the south. Also being its division into two parts linked by the Bonola shopping center: the first is located in the area of Via Cechov, and the second is known as Quartiere San Leonardo (between Via Cilea and Appenini).
Aldo Rossi was one of the architects who collaborated in this housing complex, in fact his work is about two equal buildings, separated by a narrow space, the originality that seemed to this project was that the two buildings could be repeated several times. That is why the set could lose its attractiveness since it was designed for it. In Gallaratese you can also see these buildings created by the architect, part of the work can be seen in the photo that accompanies this story.
Gallaratese is an area where you will find many large buildings together inhabited by many families. A good place to meet and shop can be the Bonola shopping center that connects these areas, as it has many shops and public services.
