The Ashaninkas, their charm from the jungle

The AshaninkasAlso  known as chunchos, campas or kuruparias, it is one of the diverse Amazonian ethnic groups that exist in Peru. It is possible that the Ashaninkas existed in Peru since before the appearance of the Inca empire, proof of them are the bronze weapons that were found in their locality. Proud of their culture, the Ashaninkas are moved by an accentuated feeling of freedom, heroes of many stories of struggles.

At present they are faithful guardians of timber trees, fighting indiscriminate felling and repudiating those who practice this activity. Formerly the Ashaninkas lived scattered in a large part of the Peruvian Amazon, through the river valleys Apurímac, Ene, Tambo, Perené and Pichis, and were organized into small groups, made up of no more than five families, led by a Chief or Curaca. Today they can be found in Lower Apurímac, Ene, Tambo, Satipo, Pichis, Ucayali and Pachitea, and it is possible that in other tributaries as well. Part of these migrations are due to political violence or interest in forest resources, which led them to share territory with another tribe, the most accepted, the machiguenga. Their language is very similar to that of the Machiguenese, as well as their physiognomic features.

His first contact with the Franciscan missionaries began in the seventeenth century, and today they have achieved great development with civilization, obtaining wealths in customs and culture, as well as an important commercial and industrial activity. Information obtained shows that 52, 461 Ashaninkas live around the aforementioned rivers, all of them divided into communities; however, there is a considerable group that, due to difficult access to their community, does not appear in the census controls. But we must indicate that the Ashaninkas make up the most important indigenous group of the Peruvian Amazone. Most of them are very cordial to those who are sincerely interested in knowing their customs, ways of life and culture, and above all learning to survive in the Amazon.

WHAT LITTLE DO YOU KNOW ABOUT THIS NOBLE ASHANINKA NATION, DID YOU KNOW THAT THIS HANDFUL OF WARRIORS SAVED HONOR AND NATIONAL HERITAGE? DO YOU KNOW WHO JUAN SANTOS ATAHUALPA WAS? DO YOU KNOW WHAT IT MEANS FOR THE GENERATIONS OF THE CENTRAL JUNGLE WHAT THIS MYTHICAL ASHANINKA WARRIOR DID? IF YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT THIS WARRIOR MEAN FOR THE VIRREYNATO AND THE CROWN OF SPAIN? ONLY THE CHANCHAMAINO PEOPLE AND THE WHOLE CENTRAL JUNGLE KNOW IT, THAT IS WHY THEY LIVE PROUD OF THEIR PROPER SON BORN AND RAISED IN THE VALLEY, TERROR OF THE INVADERS AND EVERY MISERABLE WHO BELIEVES TO BE DESCENDED FROM PENINSULAR, AND THAT DARE TO SUBMIT OUR WHEREVER, IF WE KEEP THE SENT OF THE POPE ON THE KNEES, WHY WE CANNOT STAND ON THE SENT OF THE DEVIL! EVERYONE DO LOAS FOR ALLEGED CASTELLAN HEROES, WHICH ARE NOT WORTH ANYTHING, BUT NOBODY REMEMBER A TRUE BRAVE WARRIOR ASHANINKA CALLED JUAN SANTOS ATAHUALPA, TERROR OF THE CROWN AND OF MANY MENTECATOS AND USURERS OF OUR GLOR HOLY WILLAM WALLY WILLOWS WALLY EALLORIA OF OUR GLOR WILLAM CENTRAL! SOME DAY IT WILL BE RENAISSANCE FROM ITS ASHES AND IT WILL AGAIN ACCOUNTABLE TO SO MUCH SELLING-COUNTRY AND TRAITOR OF OUR RACE!
