600 years of the Astronomical Clock and a very special sample to celebrate

One of the inevitable postcards of Prague is the beautiful Astronomical clockIt is the starting and arrival point of many stories of the city and this 2011 turns 600 years old.

The Astronomical Clock is located in the tower of the Old Town City Hall and every day, every hour between 9 a.m. and 21 p.m. it can be heard and seen working like 600 years ago.

To celebrate such an event, in one of the rooms of the Old Town Hall you will be able to enjoy an exhibition of exclusive wristwatches that comes to the city for the first time under the name of “The art of the watchmaker's trade".

The exhibition will remain until March 29, 2011 and is dedicated to the history of the Astronomical clock, to the manufacturers of wristwatches of the Czech Republic and the drawings of exclusive designs of those who dictate the fashion in watches such as Beata Rajská o Martin Broz and to the most famous watch models in the world.

Among the most exclusive watches are those brought from Germany, United States y Switzerland, some of the watches Fortis from 1926, the first of their kind, and the clocks Armin Strom whose mechanism is completely handcrafted ...

Although most of the sample is dedicated to the history of Czech watchmaking, you can find curiosities such as the watches worn by the first astronauts who arrived on the Moon and rarities such as the smallest mechanism in the world or the reversible watch specially created for polo players, among other extravagances that are the pearls of the exhibition.

There are more than 200 specimens that make up the exhibition and as a finishing touch, the last day of the exhibition will be held a charitable auction of 12 watches created by the firm prime that each have the name of the apostles represented in the Astronomical clock.
