Reasons to visit Moscow

Moscow it is one of the most beautiful and ancient cities in Russia. The emperors, or tsars, made the city their base of government until 1712, when the capital was transferred to Saint Petersburg.

Moscow was restored as the capital of Russia in 1918, and served as the capital of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) from 1922 to 1991. Since then, Moscow has been the capital of the Russian Federation.

Moscow has a long and dramatic history. The city has been completely destroyed and rebuilt many times over the years. Its older wooden buildings disappeared in the fires. Every time the city was raised from the ashes, it became more and more beautiful.

For each reconstruction, the most talented and famous architects were invited from around the world to restore Moscow. This history of Moscow's rebuilding has been part of the reason it has absorbed the many different styles.

That is why today we see beautiful monumental buildings and splendid cathedrals peek out from behind modern skyscrapers. Even in the heart of Moscow, in the Kremlin, old churches compete with the immense Palace of Congress.

The Kremlin and its surroundings are an ideal place to spend time. In the summer the temperature is high. On Red Square, it's the must-have gathering place for young and old alike, with street bars everywhere and jumping in fountains to keep cool. . This area is a very cool place to rest!
