Until February 16, 2014, Quebec has been celebrating its famous Winter Carnival, which is enriched by its program of activities with winter sports, snow sculptures and activities based on the traditional Québec lifestyle, such as canoe races and dog sled races.

It should be noted that the Quebec Carnival It is the largest winter carnival in the world today, and it is third on the list of the best carnivals after the famous Rio and New Orleans carnivals.

One of the fascinating attractions is the magical Ice palace which was first built in 1955. The impressive ice construction was the center of the dances surrounded by special lighting and entertainment for the occasion. Since 1973, the Ice Palace has been built in front of the Québec Parliament.

To build it, around 9.000 tons of snow compacted into huge bricks are needed that are molded and assembled according to an artist's drawings. The result is an impressive castle whose dimensions reach 50 meters wide, 20 meters deep and 20 meters high.

Fifteen men worked continuously for two months to create this huge snow sculpture that has electrical installations, light screens and special effects. The work is always worth it, as the palace is the central point for many Carnival activities.
