The best places to ski in Canada

Ski Canada

Just over 30 kilometers inland from the west coast of Canada, lies Whistler blackcomb; a famous ski resort that rises to 1,600 meters on 8.171 hectares of mountainous terrain.

Consistently ranked as the number one ski resort in North America by a number of ski publications, it is one of the best ski destinations in Canada located 125 km north of Vancouver, in British Columbia and that is visited by more than 2 million tourists a year.

There are two mountains that compose it: Whistler and Blackcomb, which are linked in the center by a village and where there are 200 ski slopes, 5 snowboarding parks and 38 cable cars that host 61,407 skiers per hour.

Not everything is skiing and snow in this place. Visitors can also enjoy the nightlife and bars such as Garibaldi Lift Co., known simply as "GLC" among the local population, as well as on the outdoor patio at Longhorn Lounge where they serve snacks and good food.

The truth is that more than two million people visit Whistler annually, mainly for alpine skiing and snowboarding and, in the summer, mountain biking. Its pedestrianized town has won numerous design awards and Whistler has been voted one of the top destinations in North America for vacations at any time of year.

During the 2010 Winter Olympics, Whistler hosted most of the alpine sport, cross country, sled, skeleton, and bobsleigh events, although freestyle skiing and snowboarding were all hosted on Cypress Mountain near Vancouver.
