Valentine's in Canada

This February 14 is celebrated in Valentine's Day around the world and Canada is no exception. The well-known "valentines" are famous for these festivities. They are greeting cards that children make and exchange with their friends.

There are many schools where children place their "valentines" in a box previously decorated for the occasion and distribute them to their respective recipient. They are made of red paper, wallpaper, and pictures cut out of magazines.

As for the older students, Valentine's dances and parties are organized preparing baskets of sweets, candies, gifts and little cards decorated with hearts and cupids. Likewise, on this date flowers, sweets, or other gifts are sent to their lovers.

And, of course, the gifts are the chocolate boxes have a heart shape and a red ribbon and flowers. It is also traditional to invite couples to romantic dinners and make a reservation in a glamorous room in a grand hotel and romantic trips are arranged for that date.
