Victoria Day - Victoria Day I

Queen Victoria

The Feast of Queen Victoria is celebrated in Canada on May 24, before the end of May, in honor of Queen Victoria and the birthday of the Queen of Canada, the sovereign's official birth date. It has been marked since before Canada was originally formed in the fall of royal sovereignty, and remains celebrated across the country, also informally seen to mark the beginning of the summer season.

The birthday of this Monarch is a day of celebration in Canada long before the Confederation, the Parliament of the Province of Canada, and legislation was created in 1834 that officially recognizes May 24 as the birthday of Queen Victoria, and is he noted that on the same date in 1854 - Queen Victoria's 35th birthday - some 5.000 residents of Western Canada gathered in front of Government House to "cheer their queen."

Following the death of Queen Victoria in 1901, May 24 was made by imperial decree on Empire-wide British Empire Day, while, over the decades, the official date of the sovereign queen's birthday has changed to through various royal proclamations, in Canada.
