Among the most outstanding events that the island offers to locals and Tourists come from all over the world, possibly the famous Carnival which takes place between February and March. This is a show that has nothing to envy that of Brazil. The party lasts for several weeks and focuses mainly on the Santa Catalina Park.

The first Sunday of May is celebrated Feast of saint joseph, through craft and animal fairs. During those days, local people proudly show visitors their traditions, ptypical products of the earth, and all spiced up with good local music, food and drink that is shared by all.

In early summer, in June, specifically on the 23rd, the feast of the city's patron saint is celebrated in Las Palmas, San Juan. On this occasion, many cultural events and Fireworks are organized in the Las Canteras Beach, becoming a natural setting for the contemplation of the impressive fireworks that burn at night, and the music that plays until the body endures.

During the month of June, on the occasion of Body of Christ, Las Palmas is covered in color. On the days of the event, which does not have a specific date, always depending on the liturgical calendar of the Catholic Church, the narrow streets of the city are carpeted with flowers of a thousand colors, that extend along the entire route of the procession carried out by the custodian with the Body of Christ, under the species of bread.

On the last Sunday of July the Water party. This tradition dates back to the XNUMXth century, and emerged as a time of prayer to avoid the risk of epidemics and to implore rain to alleviate a time of harsh drought. The event occurs at harvest time, during which the fruits of the sowing are collected.

With the arrival of summer, on August 4, it is possible to attend the Feast of the Branch in the municipality of Agaete. The tradition goes back to an ancient legend that speaks of dances in honor of the rain .. The locals and many other people coming from outside shake the branches of pine and eucalyptus, accompanied by the music of the local band. The parade ends on the seashore, where the rustle of branches on the surface of the water evokes the sound of rain.

On September 7 and 8, the Feast of the Virgen del Pino. This festival, dating from the XNUMXth century, takes place in Teror and is dedicated to the appearance of the Virgin Mary, Patroness of the island, which took place in 1481, on top of a pine tree, in front of the shepherds. This is the most important religious tradition on the entire island, and every year it brings together thousands of people from all over the archipelago and beyond.
