La Taino Village It is located in the Laguna del Tesoro in Ciénaga de Zapata, in the province of Matanzas. Today it is one of the main tourist sites in the country since hundreds of people come here every day, both Cubans and foreigners.

It was created 47 years ago by Celia Sanchez Manduley, a heroine woman of the Cuban Revolution, to represent as faithfully as possible the life of the Táinos, an aboriginal community of the island that developed villages from hunting, fishing and farming. The site is separated from the mainland by 8 kilometers of fresh water and we see here 25 statues molded in clay and cement made by the artist Rita Longa, but there are also replicas of the cacique's house, the tribe's behíque, huts, hunting and fishing instruments and replicas of the caney.
