English cuisine and its typical dishes

Meat makes up a large part of the traditional english food. While the national palate now accommodates a host of foods from other countries and ethnicities, there are still plenty of traditional meat dishes consumed in Britain.

And among these popular dishes we have:

cornish pasty

Cornish pie, which originates from Cornwall in the south west of England, is a British favorite. It is a patty that has meat (usually beef) and vegetables and, unlike a cake, it is folded to produce a food that can be eaten by hand, without cutlery. Cornish pie can be eaten as a snack or as part of a general meal.

Haggis

Haggis a traditional Scottish meat product that is still widely consumed today. It is made from sheep's heart, lungs and liver and is cooked in the stomach of sheep. Other food products are added to it, such as onions and spices, and in commercial haggis, crackers are frequently added to add volume.

It can be bought at supermarkets, butchers and take-out "shredders" (fast food vendors that are like an American set of hamburgers) or it can be made at home (although it can be time consuming to produce).

Hot pot

A hot pot is a very popular British meat dish. Meat is the important part of a hot pot as it provides much of its flavor. The meat (usually beef or lamb) is fried and vegetables added and put in a casserole. Slices of potatoes are added on top and then baked in the oven.

Sausages with puree

It is a meat dish that many Britons remember from childhood as a comfort food. The fried sausages are placed on a bed of mashed potatoes and covered with the sauce. The onion is optionally fried and can also be added.
