Liverpool, historic city and cradle of Los Beatles, has famous streets such as that of Matthew Street, which is a street best known throughout the world as the location of the Cavern Club, where John, Ringo, Paul played numerous times early in their career.
And it's also the hub of the Mathew Street Festival, which fills the streets of Liverpool in the summer. This busy artery is located in an area outside the city center that we now know as' The Cavern Quarter. Historically it was the center of Liverpool's wholesale fruit and vegetable market.
Mathew Street is visited by thousands of tourists a year, who visit the Cavern Club and other tourist sites such as the John Lennon statue, a Beatles shop and several pubs formerly frequented by the Beatles. One wall on Mathew Street is adorned by a sculpture by Arthur Dooley titled "Four Boys Who Shook the World."
By the way, the Mathew Street Music Festival takes place there. quees a free music festival takes place annually in Liverpool. In 2009 the festival ran for four days from Friday, August 25 to Monday, August 28, with five stages in the city center, including one on the beach, two on Pier Head, one on Dale Street, and one in Derby Square.
The event draws thousands of visitors from around the world and hosts many bands, both local and from around the world, including many Beatles tribute bands.
