La Gioconda, a universal work of art

La Gioconda, a universal work of art

One of the most important museums in the entire city of Paris is, without a doubt, the fantastic Louvre. In fact, I believe that it is the best known in the country internationally and, of course, the most popular and visited, since it is considered one of the most important in the world. It is also true that this brand new building dedicated to the and the archeology it deserves it, since it has numerous collections of a wealth that we cannot imagine.

Well, in the area dedicated to XNUMXth century revival we find nothing more and nothing less than the famous and mysterious work of Leonardo da Vinci, La Gioconda, also known by the name of the Mona Lisa (or La Joconde or Madonna Elisa for French natives). And what can we say about such a universal work of art? To begin with, its author, Leonardo da Vinci, from Florence, was one of the greatest examples of Renaissance man that existed, that is, he cultivated all possible arts. This man was an artist, sculptor, architect, scientist, engineer, anatomist, urban planner, botanist, philosopher, musician, poet, and writer. Almost nothing, huh?

Therefore, there are many works that we can highlight from him, although today we will focus on his skills as a painter. La Gioconda It is an oil painting on poplar panel that was painted between the years 1503 and 1506. Its measurements are 77 x 53 centimeters and the technique that da Vinci used for him was that of the sfumato. Of course, the painting is one of the most protected in the entire Louvre Museum and is well preserved.

But the fame of this oil is not based only on the painting we see, but on what is behind it. There are many enigmas and mysteries, assumptions and rumors that this beautiful lady contains. Who was the model? Anyway, this is something that perhaps only increases even more the admiration of billions of tourists who come to see this painting every year, probably one of the most famous in the world.
