The churches called Ypapanti especially celebrate this day and luckily, they do not close the shops. February 14 is another significant day here in Greece.

El Valentine's Day It is not a classic here in Greece, but it is one of the most popular "imported holidays" (another would be St. Patrick's Day). You will see tourists dining around by candlelight. Then, around February 20 in Ioannina the Release of Ioannina: In 1913 the Ottoman rule ended in this Greek city in the Epirus region and that is celebrated in a big way.
