Abruzzo National Park, fauna and flora reserve in Italy

In central Italy there is a region known by the name of the Abruzzo. Its capital is L'Aquila and it has within its limits three beautiful national parks representing one of the most protected areas in all of Europe. It is a mainly mountainous area, few plains, high peaks and some rivers. Inside then we can visit the Abruzzo National Park, lazio and Molise.

This park was born in 1921 and although most of its surface is in the province of L'Aquila, there is another part that belongs to Frosinone in Lazio and another to Isemia, in Molise. It is one of the oldest aprques in the country and as I said, one of the most important as it plays an essential role in the conservation of some species of typical Italian fauna, such as the Apennine wolf or the brown bear. Its land is covered by beautiful 60% beech forests and this is where there are ancient trees, but there are also birch and pine forests. Flowers? Here are many rare flowers, typical of the Alps, some and others that only live in this park.

With regard to animals, as I said, there are some whose conservation is special, such as the brown bear or the Apennine wolf, but wolves, lynxes, roe deer, otters, wild cats, martens, dormouse, hedgehogs and red squirrels are added, for example. Well, every year more than 2 million people visit this beautiful park, both Italians and foreigners, so if you want to know it, I recommend that you visit the park official website since it is very complete.
