The Apennines, mountains in Italy

There are mountains in italy? Of course. There are actually two important mountain ranges, the Alps and the Apennines. The former run from west to east crossing northern Italy and sharing the border with Austria, Switzerland and France. They are divided into regions, western, central and eastern. For its part, the Apennines run about 1000 kilometers from north to south all along the east coast of Italy. The Lombardy plateau, with the valley of the river Po, stretches between the two mountain ranges. Except for this plain most of the country is mountainous or hilly so there are really very few flat areas.

When you are in the Riviera Maya or Genoa the mountains you see are the Apennines. The route that passes through here is one of the most beautiful as it runs parallel to the Adriatic coast between Rimini and Pescara and has wonderful landscapes. Geographically speaking the Apennines run from the Gulf of Genoa along the coast to Sicily and are also divided into sections. The vast majority are very green and forested mountains, and unlike the Alps, the Apennines do not have glaciers, although they do have some snow on the highest peaks.

The highest point of the mountain range is Monte Corno at 2912 meters.
