Frescoes by Piero della Francesca in the church of Arezzo

One of the jewels of Arezzo are the frescoes that I paint Piero della Francesca, one of the best painters of the Renaissance. Here in Arezzo is the Basilica of San Francesco and inside its beautiful and famous frescoes. The church is from the XNUMXth century, a beauty and a jewel in itself, and is located in the lower part of Arezzo, halfway between the cathedral and the train station.

On the outside it does not say much, it is made of stone and bricks, but inside are these magnificent frescoes that not only Piero della Francesca painted but also other artists. The cycle and The legend of the True Cross is a set of frescoes that is in the main chapel, in front of the temple. You can see them but to see them up close you have to pay a ticket. Nothing is free. To the left of the entrance there is a staircase and when you go down there is the ticket office. Visits are allowed for half an hour only and 25 people at the same time. Not one more.

From Monday to Friday the hours are from 9am to 6:30 pm, on Saturdays and Sundays it closes one hour before. The ticket costs € 8 but for € 12 you have a combined ticket that also allows you to see the Archaeological Museum, the Museum of Medieval Art and the Vasari House.
