To the west of the Roman Forum are the last three remaining columns of the Temple of Vespasian and Titus It was built between 80 and 85 BC with the aim of deifying both emperors. It is said that when Vespasian died his last words were something like that he would become God and when he was succeeded by his son Titus, he began to want to make him one, first by building a temple in his honor.
Shortly after, Titus also died and the project passed into the hands of his younger brother, so it is assumed that it was finished in 85 BC to be restored in 200 BC. C although it seems that the restoration was very slight since the part that has survived to this day is totally original.
Today the ruins barely allow us to imagine the original temple but we get to it easily as it is close to the Temple of Saturn. It is made with Italian white corinthian and white marble and the columns are about 14.2 meters high. We can visit it as long as the Roman Forum is open to the public.
