Monument to Don Pedro IV, King of Portugal.

Located right in front of the beautiful theater of Donha Maria II we will find one of the most significant monuments in all of Lisbon, the one that pays homage to Dom Pedro IV, who was emperor of Brazil and later king of Portugal.

It was he himself who in 1826 was in charge of granting his beloved Portuguese the Constitutional Charter and represent all the Portuguese Liberals. In the monument, the work of the sculptor Elijah Robert and the architect Gabriel David, we will be able to observe in addition to his figure, four representative allegories of the values of justice, prudence, strength and temperance as well as different shields that refer to the most important cities of Portugal.

This significant monument stands on the beautiful Rossio Square. At both ends of the square we can also see two water fountains decorated with motifs alluding to Portuguese cities.

We will also find the famous Café Nicola, built in 1929 by Raúl Tojal and Norte Júnior. Every year hundreds of tourists attend what is considered one of the most important historical monuments in the entire city.

I advise you that when you visit the place you do it with a tour guide since the history of the place and its monuments is very interesting.
